Marteo Ciarnalio is dead and Canine Buttizaloa is in jail at Dubuque charged with his murder following a fatal shooting in a bunk car of the Great Western railroad. Both are Italian section hands. The former, a giant with the sinews of an ox, had threatened the life of Buttizaloa the latter asserts.
