Mary Jane Reichenauer, 96, of Dyersville, Iowa formerly of Farley, Iowa passed away peacefully Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade, Iowa.

Visitation for Mary Jane will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa. Social distancing guidelines will be in place, masks are required. Mass of Christian burial for Mary Jane will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 7, 2021 at the Basilica St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Dyersville, Iowa, with Rev. Dennis Quint officiating. Burial will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery in Farley, Iowa.

Mary Jane was born July 26, 1924, in Dyersville, Iowa, daughter of George and Ludwina (Burkle) Recker. She received her education from the rural country school in Dyersville. On February 11, 1947, she was united in marriage to Peter Reichenauer at the Basilica St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Dyersville, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Farley area for 21 years until he preceded her in death on October 14, 1968. Mary Jane worked in the Western Dubuque lunch program for 21 years before retiring in June 1991.

She enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, cards, bowling, crocheting, quilting, traveling and Christmas. She made many scrapbooks and photo albums and kept a diary almost all of her life. She loved to shop and was known for her luscious roast beef and cinnamon sweet rolls.

Mary Jane was an active member of the St. Joseph’s Parish in Farley, IA, until she moved to the Ellen Kennedy Center, Dyersville in 2005 and became a member of the Basilica St. Francis Xavier Parish in Dyersville, Iowa. She was also a former member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

She is survived by three daughters, Phyllis Koschmeder of Marion, IA, Linda (Larry) Winkelbauer of Somers, IA and Carol (Jerry) Funke of Hiawatha, IA; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; three siblings; Velma (John) Krapfl, Charles (Ann) Recker both of Dyersville, and Donald (Joan) Recker of Nocogdoches, TX; sisters-in-law, Mildred Recker of Dubuque, IA; Maureen Recker of Epworth, IA and Eileen Prier of Dyersville, IA.

Those who preceded her in death are her parents, George and Ludwina (Burkle) Recker; her husband, Peter Reichenauer; a son, Steven Reichenauer; siblings, Germaine (Alphonse) Kelchen, Esther (John) Reichenauer, Louis Recker, Sr. Margaret Ann Recker OSF, Helen (Duane) Hawker, Karol (Jim) Koch, Robert Recker, George Recker, Ralph Recker, and David Recker; Father and Mother-in-law, Andrew and Veronica Reichenauer; sister-in-law, Helen Reichenauer.
