Jeffrey A. Erschen, age 60, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away at 7:26 p.m., on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinic, Iowa City, Iowa. To celebrate Jeff’s life, private family services were held at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery at a later date following cremation.

Jeff was born on March 2, 1960, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Paul and Phyllis (Miller) Erschen.

Jeff attended grade school at St. Columbkille’s and graduated from Dubuque Senior High School, Class of 1979. Jeff was the co-founder of Erschen Saw and Tool with his brother, Mike, and later went to work as a machinist with A.Y. McDonald for 27 years. In his free time, Jeff was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, looking for morels in the spring, and especially walleye fishing. He liked to listen to music and was a great fan of Westerns, always reading a book or watching a John Wayne movie. He had a great sense of humor and an uncanny way of always finding the bright side in any situation. Jeff was a family man. He looked forward to everyone getting together, and they often found themselves captivated for hours by his vivid storytelling. Jeff will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

and his former wife,
Tammy Jo, Dubuque, IA.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Paul Erschen.

Jeff’s family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and staff at the University of Iowa, for their kindness and the outstanding care of Jeff, and for all of the support they have given his family. Also a special thanks to all of our friends and family members who have reached out, your kind thoughts and words mean the world to us.
