Anna M. (Walton) McCann, age 67, of Dubuque, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 30, 2020, at her son’s home. To celebrate Anna’s life, private family services will be held at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street.

Anna was born on February 16, 1953, in Dubuque, Iowa, the only child of George and Anna Walton.

Anna graduated from Dubuque Senior High School, and went on to attend Capri Cosmetology College. Her parents instilled the value of a strong work ethic in Anna early on, and she was always working. She was employed by Burger Express, Pickle Barrell, 5 Flags Center and lastly with Hartig’s, also doing housekeeping and CNA work along the way. She married Robert “Bob” Zimiga after he returned from the Vietnam War, and they had a wonderful son together. She was later united in marriage to John McCann Jr., in June of 1999. In her free time, Anna was an avid reader and also had an artistic side. She created beautiful crochet and cross stitch projects, as well as intricate jewelry pieces. She also enjoyed just taking time to sit still and watch her favorite tv programs. Anna truly loved her friends, and getting together to try their luck at the area casinos was a favorite past time. We are deeply saddened at losing Anna without any warning, and will miss her more than words can say.
