Mrs. Ellen Callahan died Saturday evening at 8:45 o'clock at the family home, 649 South Grandview avenue. She was born at Lanaconing, Md., Feb. 2, 1846 and came to Dubuque with her parents, Robert and Mary Welsh. She was married March 1, 1870 at Bankston to Joseph Callahan, who preceded her in death 45 years ago. She had lived here 87 years.
Surviving her are four daughters, Miss Mary M. Callahan at home; Agnes Callahan, Denver; Mrs. Emmet (Lucy) Burns, Dubuque, and Mrs. William (Rachel) Gotto, Bankston; two sons, Frank of Farley and Charles J. of Dubuque. Two sons, John and Henry preceded her in death. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She is the last of her family. Mrs. Callahan was a member of St. Columbkille's parish.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning from the home to St. Columbkille's church at 9 o'clock. Burial will be made in St. Clement's cemetery at Bankston.
