Peter Kien, a resident of Dubuque for the past thrity-seven years, was taken by death at the family home, 1738 Sycamore street, Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. He had been ailing for only a short time.
He was born in Germany, April 7, 1845, and came to this country, 37 years ago. he was a member of St. Mary's church and the Holy Name society of that parish.
Mr. Kein is survived by his widow, a daughter Mrs. James Benda, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of this city. Two years ago Mr. and Mrs. Kien celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
The funeral will be held Friday morning from the home to St. Mary's church at 9 o'clock. Interment will be made in Mt. Calvary cemetery.
