Kathleen M. “Kathy” (Haggerty) Weydert, age 65, of Dubuque, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at MercyOne Dubuque, surrounded by her loving family. To celebrate Kathy’s life, private family services will be held. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, is helping the family.
Kathy was born on July 8, 1955, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of John M. and Jean A. (Fransen) Haggerty.
Kathy attended St. Raphael’s Grade School and graduated from Dubuque Senior High School, Class of 1973. After school, she began working at Mercy Hospital in central sterilization, and would work there for over 30 years. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Joe Weydert, on September 15, 1978, at Sacred Heart Church in Dubuque, and they would be blessed with 3 children. Kathy was never one to sit still and loved getting out and about. In her younger days she and her sister, Maureen, were members of the Dubuquettes Drill Team for a few years. She was also a long time member of the Loyal Order of Moose, WOTM Chapter 850, where she served as a past president. In her free time, Kathy liked to venture to the Q Casino to try her luck, and enjoyed going to Bingo with friends. She loved listening to 60’s and 70’s music and has attended several concerts with Joe throughout the years. Kathy’s favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family. She especially enjoyed it when the gatherings took place at Happy Joe’s Pizza. We are truly heartbroken at losing Kathy here with us, and will miss her tremendously.
