Neck Broken by a Fall.
Dubuque Times:—Lenora Haas, the fifteen-year-old daughter of Henry Haas, the former expressman, met with a sad and sudden death Saturday evening about 9 o’clock. She had been playing with companions and was walking in front of the Saengerbund auditorium towards the drinking fountain when she fainted and fell to the stone sidewalk. A woman who was in front of her heard the girl fall and turning saw her lying motionless. The woman called for help and going to the girl found that life was extinct. The girl was carried into a residence near by and a physician called, but death had been instantaneous. Coroner Bennett was summoned and had the body removed to the family home, 2137 Jackson street, where a post mortem examination was held by Drs. Slattery and Convery. This showed that in falling the point of the girl's chin had struck the pavement and the force of the blow broke her neck. The inquest will be held Monday The girl had complained during the day of intense pain in the back.
