Eugene R. Clancy, 87, of Epworth, Iowa, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020 at MercyOne Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa.

Private graveside services for Eugene will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Highview Cemetery in Epworth, Iowa with Pastor Mike Jones Presiding. Full military honors will be afforded by the Epworth John White American Legion Post #650.

He was born February 21, 1933 in Iowa City, Iowa, son of Edna Sheriff. On June 12, 1957 he was united in marriage to Amke Kraeft in Bremerhaven, Germany.

He was a career Army man, he served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was extremely proud of his military service and all the medals he received, especially the Purple Heart he received for hostile combat injuries received in Vietnam. He served as an Armored Calvary-man, MP, a mess sergeant, and an expert marksman. After retiring in 1974 he was employed as a security guard for Permar.

He enjoyed boating and fishing, and squirrel hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Amke Clancy of Epworth, IA; one daughter, Angela (Bill) Theisen of Epworth, IA; one daughter-in-law, Katherine Clancy of Epworth, IA; 6 grandchildren, Tara Streif, Kyle Theisen, Jeff Theisen, Sean Clancy, Brittany Clancy and Ryan Clancy; 10 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Monica Urbain on Jan. 9, 2014 and a son, Michael Clancy on March 22, 2019.
