Dennis O’Sullivan ran a boarding house and later a hotel in Farley. Mr. O’Sullivan also owned saloon property in which a Mr. Murphy ran a business. The O’ Sullivan built a two story frame house north of the Sioux City tracks on 11th Street. They were among the first half dozen builders of homes in the town. The home is believed to have been located on lot 230 which is on the NW corner of 3rd Street and 3rd Avenue where Brian and Deb Koopman now reside. This was property Dennis O’Sullivan purchased in 1859. Dennis nd Mary had two known children. A son Eugene, who died at age 4 years, 11 mos. on Sept. 21, 1865 and was buried at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in rural Peosta, and a daughter Hanora, Mrs. M. J. Daily. Hanora died in late 1909.
Denis O’Sullivan passed away about Feb 12, 1882, leaving all property as stated in his will to Mary.The History of Farley, Welu Publishing, Copyright 1996
