W. D. McDonald was born at St. Andrew, Canada in 1835. In 1861, he married Mary Elizabeth Ronan. They had no children. W. D. came to Farley from Lamont in 1898. He had been proprietor of the Loomis Hotel for two years before his death. On Feb. 5th, he made his customary trip to meet the 10:37 p.m. train, appearing in fine health. At 1:00 a.m., Mrs. McDonald awoke hearing him moan. W.D. died before Dr. Kearney could assist him-Feb. 6, 1900. His remains were returned home to Toronto for interment.
