Mrs. Elizabeth Desmond, wife of Daniel Desmond, who died at her home in Peosta, and who was buried Monday from the Catholic church at the Monastery, was born about 75 years ago in the County Wexford, Ireland, and was married to Mr. Edward Chapman. They came to Iowa and settled on a farm in Vernon township. His death about thirty years since left her the widowed mother of seven children, all of whom survive her. The daughters are Mrs. L. Desmond and Mrs. J. J. Ryan, of Bernard; Edward and David live on a farm in the neighborhood; William is the proprietor of the Highland store in Vernon township, and John is a farmer in Boone county, Iowa. In 1879, some years after her marriage with Mr. Desmond, who also survives her, she removed with her husband to Peosta.
