Death of Mrs. D. S. Smith

The death of Mrs. D. S. Smith, which occurred at 4 o’clock Monday afternoon, Jan. 14, caused a sudden shock among her acquaintances and friends on learning the news. She had been sick for several months prior to her death and was a great sufferer at times. She was the wife of D. S. Smith, our popular druggist and respected citizen, and was 60 years of age at the time of her death. She had been a resident of Dubuque County for over 40 years and had a very large circle of friends who will regret to hear of her demise. Mrs. Smith was an accomplished lady and truly sincere Christian. She loved her home and devoted all her best energies to making it the lovely Christian home that it was, with her as the guiding light of the household. . She was a woman of kindly and sympatric nature, and those in distress never made a vain appeal to her. She had been called after a life we’ll spent to enjoy her reward.

She is survived by her husband and four children. R. W. Smith, who married Alta Littleton, and has been employed for several years in the department of foreign mail at Washington, and Emma, now Mrs. William board of Nebraska, and frank and Mattie at home.-Dyersville News Letter.
