Gladys Jeanette Kruger, 97, of Dubuque, IA, formerly of Red Wing, MN, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2020, with her family beside her in Dubuque.
Family and friends may visit from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, March 9, 2020, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, 602 Plum Street, Red Wing, MN. Services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing with burial at Burnside Cemetery. Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service is in charge of local arrangements.
Gladys was born November 29, 1922, in Hastings, MN, the daughter of Arthur and Edith (Trafton) Benson. She married Bernard W. Kruger on June 16, 1954. He preceded her in death on January 18, 1979.

She graduated from Red Wing High School in 1941. She and Bernard moved to Dubuque where she worked for 30 years in the office at Merchant’s Delivery Service.

She was forever a loving mother and grandmother. She treasured her two granddaughters dearly. She had a deep love for family instilled in her at an early age. Growing up in a family of seven children during the depression, she often said, “We didn’t have much, but we had love.” She cherished her family and loved every moment she was able to spend with them. Her house was always open to as many family members as possible who could come down to Dubuque for the weekend.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol (James) Wissing of Hazel Green, WI; granddaughters, Shelby Wissing and Ashley Wissing, also of Hazel Green, WI; sisters, Goldie Veith of River Falls, WI, and Rosetta Wright of Northfield, MN.

She now rejoins her family who had gone on ahead of hers, her husband, Bernard, sisters Viola Larson, Dorothy Fladhammer, Evelyn Kinneman, and brother Harold Benson.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Ennoble Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dubuque for their caring compassion and friendship given to Gladys and her family these last few years.
