John F. Brehm, born November 29, 1857 in Darmstedt, Germany. John came to Dubuque, Iowa in 1882. He remained single. John worked at the Standard Lumber Company for 25 years and 20 years for the railroad. He died at the home of his nephew, Adam Frank Brehm Jr. on February 13, 1942, and buried at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Rickardsville, Iowa. John became a United States citizen on November 1, 1887 in the District Court of Dubuque, Iowa. John was the oldest of four siblings. 1 sister, Catherine (Catrin) Brehm Glab, Dubuque, Iowa, 2 brothers, Henry Brehm, Boulder, Colorado, and Adam Frank Brehm, Rickardsville, Iowa.
