ANOTHER SORROW.
The announcement of the death of Mrs. Aurelia Clark Bartlett, which occurred at 8 o'clock on Sunday evening, occasioned no surprise among the many friends of the deceased who were aware that she was a victim of an incurable malady from which her death might ensue at any moment. An additional sadness, however, attaches to the event in view of the great affliction that has lately been visited upon the bereaved daughter, Mrs. T.P. Rood, and in her double sorrow it may comfort the wounded and nearly broken heart to know that the sympathy of friends and the community at large are extended to her.
Mrs. Bartlett was born December 27, 1814, at Calais, Maine, and came to this city in 1838. She was the widow of the late John H. Bartlett, at one time a prominent and active business member of this community. She was a lady of literary culture, of kind and loving nature, and her death will cause a feeling of profound regret and sorrow among her family and social relations aggravated by another late bereavement which came to the suffering lady with a crushing weight of sorrow and no doubt hurried the death that in any event was not far distant.
