Sharon R. Meyer

Sharon R. Meyer (“Potts”), 72, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2020 at Ennoble Manor Care Center in Dubuque, IA.

Visitation will be from 9:00 – 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Miller Funeral Home in East Dubuque, IL, followed by a prayer service at 11:30 a.m. with Fr. Peter Snieg officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery.

Sharon was born on September 8, 1947 in Cascade, IA, the daughter of Clarence L. and Hazel A. (Behrends) Breitbach. Sharon was first united in marriage to Timothy J. (“Muskrat”) Habel (now deceased) in 1972 and 3 daughters were born to this marriage. Sharon later married Dean M. (“Deano”) Meyer, on October 22, 1998, and a son was gained from this union. Dean preceded her in death on October 29, 2013.

Sharon was an avid Cubs fan. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids; playing cards, bingo and going to the casino and on bus trips with her friends and loved ones. She lived life to the fullest, was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Sharon is survived by four children, Kimberly Beck of Dubuque, Trenda (Rick) Gravel of Bernard, Michael (Ayla Johnson) Meyer and Amanda Habel both of East Dubuque; 10-grandchildren, Taylor, Zach, Bailey, Emma, AJ, Nolan, Brody, Lexie, Riley and Ayla; a great grandchild, Brayton; a sister, Vickie (Stu Hetherington) Holub of Mesa, AZ; a sister-in-law, Diane (John) Sullivan; three brothers-in-law, Rick Scott, Ronald Meyer and Patrick Meyer, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and several close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Jerry Breitbach, two sisters, Lois Scott and Shirley Keating, two sisters-in-law, Sandra Gaber and Connie Breitbach, and a brother-in-law, Donald Meyer.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Linda Kaufman and Patty Leick, two of Sharon’s closest friends who also went out of their way to be with and take care of Sharon during her battle with cancer. To Michelle Mulgrew for being Sharon’s “Meals on Wheels” every day – making sure she ate even when she wasn’t hungry. Because of Michelle, our family was able to keep Sharon around a little longer than we would have otherwise. To Dr. Herman, Hospice of Dubuque and the entire staff at Ennoble Manor for the special care they gave Sharon over these past few weeks, and especially to Michelle Healey and Ron Powers.
