Another Old Citizen Gone

James Buchanan, an aged and respected citizen has gone hence to rest from the cares of this busy world to enter the portals of another on the shores of Eternity. He died at the residence of his sister, Mrs. Eliza Dick, in Whitewater Township, on Sunday morning February 1st, 1880.

Mr. Buchanan was born in the parish of Leck Tyrone County, Ireland. At eleven years of age he emigrated to the United States, and located in Philadelphia, and was a resident of that city for thirty-five years. In 1856 he came to Iowa, and settled near Cascade where he resided up to the time of his death. He was a quiet intelligent and unassuming man, much respected by all who know him. He leaves as relatives in this part of the country, two sisters, Mrs. Eliza Dick and Mrs. Wm. Baird, Dr. The funeral took place from the United Presbyterian Church, on Monday afternoon, Rev. Wm. Donaldson officiating.
