Ralph J. Jungk, 90, of 889 Cottage Place, died Sunday, May 17, at home.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, May 21, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Monsignor Paul Steimel officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by American Legion Dubuque Post 6. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., where there will be a prayer service at 4 p.m.
He was born on May 29, 1918, in Dubuque, son of Leo and Marie (Sauer) Jungk. He married Jenni R. Koch on July 27, 1940, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dubuque.
Ralph served in the Navy for four years from 1935 to 1939, and with the Seabees from 1942 to 1945.
He was employed as a baker until 1960. He then was employed at John Deere Dubuque Works until he retired in 1983.
He was a member of St. Mary's parish, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Navy League, the Tri-State Blind Society, Council 510 Knights of Columbus and the volunteer service organization at Bethany Home.
Surviving are his wife, Jenni Jungk, of Dubuque; a son, Ralph "Ponch" (Vicki) Jungk Jr., of Spring, Texas; a granddaughter, Tracie (Eric) Thigpen, of Spring; four sisters, Pat Arensdorf and Virginia Konzen, both of Dubuque, Arlene (Joe) Reinker, of Michigan, and Marie Hinderman, of Sun City, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter at birth; two brothers, Donald and Phillip; and a sister, Evelyn Bach.
