CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — Eunice C. Hauber, 97, formerly of Dyersville, Iowa passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018, at The Deery Suites at Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Avenue SW in Dyersville. A prayer service will begin at 11 a.m., with graveside services following at St. Francis Cemetery in Dyersville.
Eunice was born Nov. 30, 1921, in Dyersville, the daughter of John H. and Johanna (Lueck) Eilers. She met her husband, Bernard J. Hauber, at a dance in Dyersville and they married at the St. Francis Xavier Basilica on July 8, 1950.
Eunice was proud of her time working at the Emporium and shared many stories of her time growing up in Dyersville. She enjoyed her backyard garden and flowers of every kind, especially lilacs. She and her husband, Bernie, spent many days visiting Dubuque, Iowa, including Eagle Point Park, a special place they visited while they were dating. She loved hearing about and sharing the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Both Eunice and her husband, Bernie, were avid fans of Iowa State University, proudly seeing all of their children graduate from Iowa State.
Eunice is survived by a son, Wayne (Cindy), of Ames, Iowa; three daughters, Ann (Craig) Rowley, of Dallas, Tex., Janice (Bruce) Newendorp, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Sharon H. Fowler, of Longwood, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Eric (Alexis) Hauber, Karl Hauber, and Rachel (Tom Spaulding) Hauber, Laura (John) Losinger, Brandon Newendorp and Amanda (Tyler) Owen, Wesley and Matthew Fowler; and three great-grandchildren, Molly Losinger, and Audrey and Lauren Owen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie, in 2005; her parents, John and Johanna Eilers; her twin sister, Edith (Vince) McLees; sisters, Helen (Harold) Laures, Jeanette (Gene) Tauke and Ruth (Walter) Kramer; and brothers, Eugene (LuMae) Eilers and Ray Eilers.
Memorials may be directed to Unity Point Hospice Waterloo.
