The funeral of Nicholas A. Decker, 76, was held Friday morning, July 16, at Sacred Heart church with interment in St. Joseph's cemetery, Prairie.

Mr. Decker died Tuesday, July 13, at John McDonald Hospital.

He was born Oct. 4, 1900, in Castle Grove, the son of Theodore and Ella Appleby Decker.

On April 17, 1928, he married Clara Berthel and the couple farmed in the Bernard area until retiring to Monticello.

Surviving are his wife, one son, Steve of Dubuque, five daughters, Mrs. Robert (Leota) Neiderhauser of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. John (Dorothy) McCarthy of Kanai Ala., Mrs. James (Alice) Kruser of Potosi, WIs., Mrs. Duane (Marion) Russow of Bettendorf and Ruth Decker, Chicago; 39 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a brother, Joseph and sister, Mrs. Henry (Margaret) Johnson, both of Dubuque.

Casketbearers were Leonard, Jeff and Bill Decker, Bill and John Niederhauser and Henry Johnson.
