Obituary Dubuque Daily Herald April 11, 1868

A notice of the death of Adam Jaeger will be found in our columns this morning. He died yesterday at his residence in this city. He has been ill for more than a year and some weeks ago his recovery was dispaired of. Mr. Jaeger was a native of Darmstadt, Germany, near Frankfort, and was born in the year 1811. He was therefore fifty-seven years of age at the time of his death. He came to America in 1839. In 1840 he came to Dubuque, where he has since resided. For many years he was engaged in mercantile business. During the years 1857-1858 Mr. Jaeger ably represented the Fifth ward in the city council. In May 1867 he paid a
visit to Germany, being absent about six months. On his return he was taken sick, and from that time never knew a well day. Eight weeks ago he was confined to his bed, and no hopes have since been entertained of his recovery.

The deceased leaves a large number of friends and relatives in this city to morn his loss. He had two sisters living here, Mrs. Glab and Mrs. Ellwanger. He was an active and enterprising man, a good citizen, respected by all who knew him, and an honor to the city.
