Mrs. Robert (Helen Pemsl) Niday, 61, 2747 Jackson St., died of ovarian cancer, Monday, June 22, 1998, at The Finley Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 5 p.m. and a Women of the Moose service at 7 p.m.
Mrs. Niday formerly worked at Trausch Bakery.
She was born on March 29, 1937, in Dubuque, daughter of George and Anna (Portzen) Pemsl. She married Robert H. Niday on Oct. 12, 1963, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church.
She graduated from the former St. Joseph Academy, Dubuque, in 1956. She was a life member of Holy Ghost Parish and Women of the Moose, Dubuque Chapter 850. For many years she cared for a number of children in her home. She loved and cared for them like a second mother.
Surviving are her husband, Robert; a son, Kurt Niday (and friend Sara Spielman), of Dubuque; a daughter, Mrs. Kerri (Robert) Roman of Davenport, Iowa; brothers, George (,Sarah) Pemsl and David (Linda) Pemsl, both of Dubuque; a sister, Mrs. Ann (Jim) Lanser, of Dubuque; nieces; and very close friends, Brent and Carol Postel.
A Helen Niday Memorial Fund has been established.
