Rita was born on December 3, 1929 in Five Points, Iowa, daughter of John and Susan (Lex) Weidemann.

She was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy in Dubuque. In 1948, Rita married Matthias J. Loch at St. Joseph's Church, Rickardsville, Iowa. He preceded her in death on December 24, 1986.

Rita and Matt raised their six children on their farm on Haberkorn Road in Balltown. She was an active member of the St. Francis Rosary Society in Balltown. A go-getter throughout her life, she was most proud of the strong work ethic that she instilled in her children and grandchildren.
