Farley, Ia. July 1-Joseph Veach, lifelong resident of Dubuque County died at his home Sunday morning at 2:30 o’clock following an illness of several months.

Mr. Veach, son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Veach was born in Taylor Township, Aug. 29, 1871. He grew up in that vicinity and farmed near Placid until he and his sister Elizabeth moved to Farley in 1912. He never married.

He was a member of the Farley Council No. 2201 Knights of Columbus, The Catholic Order of Foresters, the Rosary Society and the League of the Sacred Heart. At the time of his death he was recording Secretary of the Foresters.

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mayme Lawler and Miss Elizabeth, Farley and one brother Charles of Los Angeles, and a number of nieces and nephews.

His parents, one brother and a sister preceded him in death. His brother-in-law William Lawler died five weeks ago.

The funeral took place Friday morning at 9 o’clock from the Sanner Funeral Home to St. Joseph Church, were a Requiem High Mass was sung for the repose of his soul by Rev. Fr. Charles Lawler, assistant pastor at the Cathedral, Dubuque, nephew of the deceased. Rev. Father P. E. Donnelly preached the sermon. Rev. Father Lawler was assisted at the grave side by Rev. Donnelly and Rev. Father Robert Saunders. An honorary escort was formed by the members of the K. of C. and the C. O. F. of which Mr. Veach was a member. They were Wilfred Healey, W. A. Greenwood, Wm. Connelly, James B. Healey, James McDermott and James Elliott. The active pallbearers were Messrs. John Lawler, John M. Healey, R. L. Pitman, Peter George, William O’Neil and Albert Fox.
