Sister Mary (Muritta) Hemeyer, OP, died January 7, 2019.

A wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, at Sinsinawa Motherhouse. Her funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, at the Motherhouse.

Sister Mary was born Oct.14, 1930, to Fredrick and Elizabeth (McAvinney) Hemeyer.

She taught at parish schools, including Visitation, Chicago; St. Lawrence, Faribault, Minn.; St. Thomas, Kenosha, Wis.; St. Patrick, Madison, Wis.; St. Joseph, Sioux Falls, S.D.; and St. Mary, Cheyenne, Wyo. She was secretary in the St. Paul Archdiocesan Education Office; Holy Rosary School, Minneapolis; Trinity High School, River Forest, Ill.; and the Sinsinawa Development Office.

She lived in the motherhouse community before joining the St. Dominic Villa community in 2017.

She is survived by cousins, and her Dominican Sisters. Hoffmann Schneider is handling arrangements.
