Odelia M. "Odie" Boffeli, 87, of Cascade, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at her home in Cascade, Iowa surrounded by her loving family.
Friends and family may call from 2 to 8 p.m., Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa where a wake service will be held at 1:30 p.m.
Services for Odie will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 3, 2018 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa with Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa.
She was born on the family farm west of Cascade on March 31, 1931 to Joseph and Mary (Rauen) Beringer, Luxemburg, Europe immigrants to America. Odie loved her Luxemburg heritage and spoke the language fluently.
She was a graduate of both elementary and St. Mary's High School. She was united in marriage to Eldon "Pete" Boffeli on October 11, 1949 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa. They farmed in the Cascade, Placid area, later moving to Cascade. For many years she was employed as a Western Dubuque School bus driver. Her faith, family, friends and the many family get togethers with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren she treasured dearly.
She is survived by eleven children, Rick (Linda) Boffeli of Epworth, Sue (Rick) Hosch, Bill (Linda) Boffeli, Joyce (Mark) Fagan, Peter (Mary Deb) Boffeli, and Nick Boffeli all of Cascade, Jayne (Larry) Kirkpatrick of Alachua, FL, Jacque (Tony) Breitbach of Manchester, MO, Maura (Jerry) Stafford of VanMeter, Jenny (Todd) McCombs of Johnston, and Russ (Jane) Boffeli of Cascade; one son in law, Chuck (Amy) Noonan of Bernard; 27 grandchildren, Eric (Jennifer) Noonan, Jason (Laura) Noonan, Nathan Boffeli, Katie (Troy) Gibbs, Dawn (Mike) Pladna, Julie (Nick) Meyer, Micaela (Travis) Dolezal, Ryan Hosch, Ali (Tyler) Kisner, Laura (Ron) Cook, Lisa (Adam) Long, Lacey Boffeli, Kyle (Angie) Fagan, Travis (Kelli) Fagan, Brad (Lisa) Boffeli, Brett Boffeli, Brittney Boffeli, Jeff Boffeli, Jeremy (Kiley) Boffeli, Jarrod (Camilla) Kirkpatrick, Chayson (Kelly) Kirkpatrick, Jenna Breitbach, Kaylyn Breitbach, Alec McCombs, Aubrey McCombs, Lidia Boffeli and Ben Boffeli; ; 30 great grandchildren, Ava, Hanna, Olivia, Nolan, Aidan, Claudia, Alexis, Adler, Jensen, Kaden, Mariah, Addison, Owen, Avery, Alanna, Bennett, Michelle, Natalie, Clark, Arya, Olivia, Nora, Dylan, Brayden, Isabelle, Madelyn, Kinsley, Lauren, Cara and Cecelia. She is also survived by a sister, Tecie (Jim) Lehman of Cascade and four sisters-in-law, Bernice Beringer of Dyersville, Imelda Beringer of Cascade, Lois Boffeli of Farley, and Lorraine Boffeli of Manchester.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eldon "Pete" Boffeli on November 16, 2005; and 3 children, Steve Boffeli on April 15, 1971, Kay (Boffeli) Noonan on June 9, 1976 and Julie Boffeli on Dec. 19, 1957; her siblings and their spouses, Victor (Anna) Beringer, Carl (Alvina) Beringer, Nick Beringer, Arnold (Ione) Beringer, Bill Beringer, Frederick Beringer and Emil Beringer both in infancy; her brothers and sisters-in-laws, LaVerne Boffeli, Merlin & Mary Boffeli, Don & Cecelia McAllister, Vic & Pearl Schaul, Delia & Wesley Truair, Sr. Raynel Boffeli, O.S.F., Allan Boffeli, Eugene & Maxine Boffeli, Bill Boffeli, Pete & Mariet Schmitt, Rosene Dolphin-Trumm, Merlin Dolphin, LeRoy Trumm; and a very special nephew, Ralph Beringer.
She was a fantastic Cascade Historian, an amazing homemaker and if you wanted a lovely meal-call Odie.
We would like to thank all of our friends and relatives for all the prayers, thoughts and food delivered to our home. A sincere thanks to a very special friend, Fr. Loecke. Also thanks to Hospice of Dubuque, especially Jeanette, Stacey, Jenni and Sherry Kelchen and staff for all the compassionate care and support given to Odie and to our family.
