DEATHS

In this city, Friday evening last, Mathilda Isabelle, daughter of Guy B. and Mary Elmira Morrison, aged 2 years, 4 months and 11 days.

Oh! The pangs which render the heart of many a fond parent, when Death enters the abode of innocence and peace. This lovely child was the emblem of intelligence and beauty, a fond father delighted in her smile; and was the pride and hope of an affectionate mother; but, in a moment these pleasing hopes are swept away; for Death has claimed her for his own. Sweet child farewell! Bud of promise, nipt by too early frost! Thy little grave shall be decked with flowers; it shall be watered by tears of parental affection; when spring puts on her beauteous livery of green again, we shall be reminded that Jesus had laid these on his breast to bloom and blossom there.
