Francis J. Kipper

January 14, 1936 - April 25, 2011

Francis J. Kipper, 75, of 1951 Lincoln Avenue died Monday, April 25, 2011 at home, surrounded by his family.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 29th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, with military rites by the American Legion Post # 6. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 28th at Hoffmann Schneider Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1640 Main Street where there will be a wake service at 7:30 p.m.

He was born January 14,1936, in Dubuque, son of Clarence and Florence (Kemps) Kipper. He married Maritta Behnke Nov. 26, 1960 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dubuque.

Francis graduated from the former Loras Academy, Dubuque.

He served in the U.S. Army 1958 – 1960.

After working in the landscaping field for many years Fran ventured out on his own and started Kipper Landscaping and Lawn Care, which he operated for20 plus years. His son, Ken, took over the business and he worked with him to the present day.

He was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart parish.

Surviving are his wife, Maritta, a daughter, Karen Kipper, of Dubuque; two sons, Kevin (fiancé Lisa Hahn) Kipper, of Donahue, Iowa and Ken (Deb) Kipper, of Dubuque; four grandchildren, Ben and Logan Kipper and Dan and Jessi Schmitt; and two brothers, Robert Kipper, of Valdosta, Georgia and Theodore (Joanne) Kipper, of Dubuque.
