Obituary for Regina M. (Tebbe) Clasen
Regina M. (Tebbe) Clasen, 100, of Springbrook, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Mill Valley Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, in Springbrook. Visitation for Regina will be held from 9:00 am – 10:45 am prior to Mass at the church on Thursday.
Regina was born January 11, 1918 in Springbrook, the daughter of John and Mary (Helmle) Tebbe. She married John “Smac” Clasen on September 2, 1941 in Springbrook, he passed on April 4, 1988.
Regina was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, the quilting guild, rosary society and enrolled in her first Bible study at age 97. Ever the conservative, she was a firm advocate of Reduce-Reuse-Recycle (even before it became fashionable). Regina was an active farm wife who went above and beyond to make her farm beautiful. She worked side by side with her husband for many years milking cows, bailing hay, and she even painted all of the farm buildings by hand.
She enjoyed playing cards with the neighbors, gardening, flowers, sewing, quilting and baking. Her signature lemon roll. raisin bread and caramel popcorn balls will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Above all else she enjoyed loving her family and laughing with her friends and neighbors.
Survivors include her children, Phyllis (Bernie) Frett of Preston, Mary Ann (Gary) Kunde of Bellevue, James (Kathy) Clasen of Eldridge, John Ambrose Clasen of Stockton, and Jacquelyn (Gordon) Cover of Cedar Rapids; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; a brother, Sylvester Tebbe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Regina was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Elmer, Alfred, Johnny, Harold, Oliver, Richard, Rosella Sullivan, Armella Clasen, Lavita Budde, and Rosemary Dondlinger.
The family of Regina would like to thank the community of Springbrook for their support and assistance shown over the years.
