Julianne H. Avenarius, 60, of Cascade, Iowa, passed away Monday, April 30, 2018, at Unity Point Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa.
Friends and relatives of Julie may call from 2 to 7 p.m., Sunday, May 6, 2018, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa, where a wake service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friends may also call after 9 a.m., Monday, May 7, 2018, at the funeral home.
Services for Julie will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 7, 2018, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa, with Rev. Douglas Loecke presiding. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa.
She was born July 24, 1957, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Albert J. and Helen M. (Weber) Gansemer. She was a 1975 graduate of Western Dubuque High School. She also graduated from Capri Cosmetology and Massage Therapy in Dubuque. She received her Emergency Medical Technician certification from NICC. On October 16, 2003, she was united in marriage to Terry Avenarius at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Cascade. She owned and operated Second Glance Salon and floral shop in Cascade for many years, she was then employed at Walmart in Dubuque and later at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade as a cosmetologist.
She is survived by her husband, Terry Avenarius of Cascade, IA; two sons, Marvin (Angie) Manternach of Cascade, IA, and Justin Manternach (& fiancé, Donna McFall) of State Center, IA; one step-daughter, Emma Avenarius ( & friend, Noah) of Dubuque, IA; two grandchildren, Josephine and Lane; 2 step grandchildren, Daniel and Maggie; her siblings, Mary Anne (Kenneth) Manternach of Rickardsville, IA, Joseph (Susane) Gansemer of Epworth, IA, Edward Gansemer of Dyersville, IA, Rita (Thomas) Clemen of Epworth, IA, Eugene (Kathryn) Gansemer of Holy Cross, IA, Madonna Gansemer of Des Moines, IA, and Michael Gansemer of Dubuque, IA, and her father and mother-in-law, James and Diane Avenarius of Dubuque, IA.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Donald Gansemer, one niece, Hannah Gansemer.
