FARLEY, Iowa - Michael J. Oberbroeckling, 57, of Farley, Iowa, passed away Monday, July 4, 2016, at his home in Farley, Iowa, after a sudden illness.

Friends and relatives of Michael may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, Iowa, where a wake service will be held at 2:00 p.m. and the Farley American Legion Post #656 will meet in a body at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call after 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 8, 2016, at the Funeral Home.

Services for Michael will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2016, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley, Iowa, with Rev. Michael Schueller presiding. Burial will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery Farley, Iowa, with full military honors accorded by the Farley American Legion Post #656.

He was born June 8, 1959, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Leonard L. and Jean (Miller) Oberbroeckling. He is a 1977 graduate of Western Dubuque High School in Epworth, Iowa. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1978 and served in the Persian Gulf war and was Honorably discharged in 1982.

He is survived by his son, Marvin Oberbroeckling, of Dubuque, IA; mother and father, Jean and Marvin Kramer, of Farley, IA, four brothers, Tom (Cheryl) Oberbroeckling, of Marion, IA and Rick (Wendy) Oberbroeckling, of Dyersville, IA, Kevin Kramer, of Bettendorf, IA, and Marty Kramer, of Iowa City, IA; two sisters, Sherry (Dave) Menke, of Cascade, Iowa, Karla (Jack) Golden, of Florence, AR; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Leonard L. Oberbroeckling on May 12, 1960.

In lieu of flowers a Michael J. Oberbroeckling memorial fund has been established.
