Lloyd A. Decker, 78, of Dubuque, Iowa, formerly of Balltown, Iowa, was surrounded by his family as he went home to heaven on Friday, September 9, 2016, exactly 35 years to the day of his son Donald's death.

Friends and relatives of Lloyd may call from 3 to 8 p.m., on Monday, September 12, 2016, at Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, Iowa, where a wake service will be held at 3 p.m. Friends also may call after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Services for Lloyd will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Balltown, Iowa, with Rev. Noah Diehm presiding. Burial will be held in St. Francis Cemetery in Balltown, Iowa.

Lloyd was born January 5, 1938, in Balltown, Iowa, son of Roy and Anna (Pothoff) Decker. He received his education in the St. Francis Catholic School in Balltown. On November 29, 1958, he was united in marriage to Janice Farni at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dubuque, Iowa. She preceded him in death on June 11, 2004. He was employed at the former Dubuque Packing Company and later owned and operated Decker Auto Sales.

He enjoyed playing euchre, drinking beer, working on cars, hunting, fishing, country music and NASCAR. He was a devoted fan of Rusty Wallace. He had a special love for his golden retrievers, Peaches and Goof.

He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Balltown, Iowa.

He is survived by three children, Dennis (Lorie) Decker, of North Buena Vista, IA, Debra (Bernie) Reiff, of Farley, IA and Doris (Larry) of Dubuque, IA; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Tim) Schramm, Jacob (Sara) Reiff, Bobbi Jo (Joe) Duneman, Justin Otto, Michael Roeth, Samuel Roeth and Amanda Roeth; four great-grandchildren, Owen and Landyn Schramm, GraceLynn and Auburn Reiff; a sister, Anna Mae (Donald) Brimeyer, of Dubuque, IA; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Edith Decker, of Dubuque, IA, Mary Decker, of Sherrill, IA, Pat Decker, of Rickardsville, IA; Doris Schueller, of Denver, CO, Bill Cox, of Dubuque, IA, Betty Lou Bell, of East Dubuque, IL, Rita Dunn, of Denver, CO, and Frank Donovan, of CA.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janice Decker; a son, Donald Decker on September 9, 1981; three brothers, Raymond and Alvin Decker and his twin brother Louis Decker; a sister, Delores Decker; his father and mother-in-law, Ed and Martha Farni; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold (Theresa) Farni, Jim Farni, Mabel Donovan, Eileen Cox, Dorothy (Ray) Paulus, Ken Schueller, and Louis Bell.
