DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Larry L. Finnell, 75, of Dyersville, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at home, following a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Jerry Kopacek officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 137. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4 p.m., and an American Legion service at 7 p.m.

He was born on Sept. 4, 1930, in Ottawa, Kan., son of Russell and Edith (Hinman) Finnell. He married Shirley Kuper on July 13, 1952, in Hampton.

He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Finnell began work with the Harrison Co. in 1956. He and Shirley moved their family to Dyersville in 1964, when he managed the Harrison Variety Store until 1982. After that, he sold cars for Beckett Chevy-Olds, Dave Ballstedt Ford and Tauke Motors until 1992. Larry also worked for Scherrman's Appliance, Roling Water Treatment and RTA.

He was a member of the Lions Club, past board member of the Dyersville Golf and Country Club and a 50-year member of the American Legion Post 137.

Some of his favorite pastimes were golfing, camping, hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley; a son, Mike (Ruth Ann) Finnell, and a daughter, Pam (Chris) Kruse, both of Earlville; six grandchildren, Chad, Crystal and Jeff Finnell and Carissa, Kylie and Kolyer Kruse; a sister, Lila Harrison, of Hampton; two brothers-in-law, Marvin Meints, of Hampton, and Morris (Kathleen) Kuper, of Oklahoma City; and a sister-in-law, Marian Kuper, of Belmond.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law, Russell Harrison and Harold Kuper, and a sister-in-law, Lois Meints.
