Dolores H. English, 80, of Dyersville, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, in Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, where the American Legion Auxiliary will recite the rosary at 4 p.m. and a Parish Scripture service will be held at 7 p.m. Services: noon Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Mark Osterhaus with the Rev. Phil Kruse concelebrating.

Dolores was born Nov. 4, 1925, in Dyersville, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Frances (Engelken) Kruse. She graduated from Xavier High School in 1943 and attended Bayless Business College. Dolores married Robert "Ozzie" English on Oct. 22, 1949, in St. Francis Xavier Church in Dyersville. Her life was centered around her family and she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Dolores was a member of St. Francis Xavier parish, Catholic Daughters of America, American Legion Auxiliary and former member of Dyersville Golf and Country Club. Her latest occupation was as a legal secretary until her retirement.

Survivors include four daughters, Kathy (Chris) Goedken of Dyersville, Mary Ellen (Charles) Brucato Jr. of Brick, N.J., Peggy English of Dyersville and Jackie English of Coralville; four sons, Michael (Julie) English, Patrick (Mae) English and Tim (Angela) English, all of Dyersville, and Thomas (Lisa) English of Dubuque; and 13 grandchildren, Anne and John Goedken, Charles, Mary Ellen and Daniel Brucato, Robert, Jennifer and Gwen English, Claire and Bennett English, Maggie, Kelly and Abby English.

Dolores was preceded in death by her husband in 1992; four brothers, Gilbert, Leander, Lawrence and the Rev. Donald Kruse; and two sisters, Virginia Kruse and Mildred Willenborg.

The family would like to thank Shady Rest Care Center, the Alzheimer's Association and Hospice of Dubuque for their continued care.
