HOLY CROSS, Iowa - Irvin M. Stoffel, 76, of Holy Cross, Iowa died peacefully Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005, in Sherrill, surrounded by friends and family.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, the Rev. Paul Baldwin will be officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Wed-nesday at Kramer Funeral Home, Holy Cross, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4:30 p.m.

He was born on June 7, 1929, in Dubuque, son of Jacob P. and Bertha U. (Miller) Stoffel.

He married Lucille Leick on June 20, 1949, in North Buena Vista. Together they farmed in the Rickardsville area until their retirement in 1989, and moved to Holy Cross, in 1991. They enjoyed a special farming/working relationship.

Irvin enjoyed rabbit hunting, fishing, the Cubs and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are four sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Ernie) Ellerbach, Florence (Clarence) Kennicker, Irma Schrobilgen and Lucille Brimeyer; four brothers-in-law, Richard Tharp, Merlin (Ruth) Leick, Leonard (Elizabeth) Leick and Arnie (special friend, Myrna) Leick; 27 nieces and nephews; five foster grandchildren, Dave (April) Ernzen, of Balltown, Beth Ernzen, of Holy Cross, Ben, Jessica and Robin Ernzen, all of Luxemburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, in 1997; a brother, Glen Stoffel, in 1994; two brothers-in-law, John Hess and Melvin Schrobilgen; and two sisters-in-law, Marina Hess and Rosemary Tharp.
