Randall "Randy" E. Holzhammer, 38, of Dubuque, died of heart failure Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, in Genesis Medical Center, Davenport. Services were Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Leonard Funeral Home, Dubuque.

Randy attended St. Columbkille's School and graduated from Dubuque Senior High School. He was an architectural draftsman before working as a manager in the service industry. Boating on the Mississippi was one of his favorite pastimes as well as music and the Cubs.

He was born on Jan. 22, 1962, in Dubuque, son of Edward W. and Vera V. (Mootz) Holzhammer.

Surviving are his parents, Carlos and Vera "Vicki" Dowdy of Dubuque; three sisters, Carole (Mike) Wiegand of Cedar Rapids, Paula (David) Chapin of Galena, Ill., and Kay (Dick) Sisler of Dubuque; a niece, Nicole Lehman Kleppe (Aaron) and their daughter Alyssa; and his companion in life, Cena Barth.

The family would like to especially thank Dr. Whalen and Tri-State Dialysis for their many years of support.

Although he had a lifetime battle with diabetes, he dealt with life's challenges with courage. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

A Randy Holzhammer Memorial Fund has been established.
