Jacqueline J. "Jackie" Fuller, 84, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Monday morning, November 20, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa.
A celebration of Jackie's life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M., Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Burial will be at the Hickory Grove Cemetery, rural Monmouth, Iowa.
Jacqueline Joyce Nugent was born on October 16, 1933 in Clinton, Iowa, to Harry Charles and Olinda (Baute) Nugent. Her mom died at a young age and her dad married Dorothy Miller on December 19, 1939. Dorothy was the only mom she ever knew. "Jackie" was a 1951 graduate of Maquoketa High School. She married Bryce Fuller on November 17, 1951 in Bellevue, Iowa. He preceded her in death on September 13, 1968. She later married James Curtis on August 23, 1969. They later divorced.
Through the years "Jackie" had worked at Dolch's Bakery in Maquoketa, in the laundry department at Maquoketa Care Center, and lastly at the WALMART snack bar retiring on May 30, 2003.
"Jackie's" faith was very important to her. She was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Grand Mound, confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Maquoketa, and later was a member of the Andrew Presbyterian Church. Since 2013 she had been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Maquoketa. Additional memberships included the Maquoketa American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
"Jackie" enjoyed playing in area Euchre card clubs each day of the week. She especially loved her family, and will be remembered as always being kind-hearted, non-judging and accepting to all.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Tom (Sue) Fuller of Maquoketa, IA, David (Mary Jo) Fuller of Monmouth, IA, Larry Fuller of Maquoketa, IA, Jim (Lori) Fuller of Rochester, IA, Jodi (Tim) Cottle of Maquoketa, IA, and Joe Curtis of Huxley, IA; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; sisters Ella (Jim) Bakken of Corpus Christi, TX, and Phyllis (Les) Schau of DeWitt, IA; and a sister-in-Law, Marilyn Sterk of Maquoketa, IA. She was preceded in death by her mother, father and step-mother, her husband Bryce, a brother Wally Nugent, and a sister Dorothy Bormann.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous of Iowa or to a charity of the donor's choice.
