John Schroeder, Wholesaler, Dead

John P. Schroeder, 79, of 1455 Main Street, died unexpectedly Sunday morning at his home. He operated a wholesale grocery business founded by his father until his retirement.

Friends may call at the Hoffman Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick’s Church. The Rev. John J. Walsh will officiate at the Requiem High Mass. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Mr. Schroeder was active and one of the oldest members of the Dubuque Traveling and Business Men’s Association.

Surviving are his wife Anna I. Schroeder; two sons, Frank J. Schroeder, Davenport, and John J. Schroeder, Dubuque; three daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Dorothy) Werinmont, and Mrs. Harold (Kathryn) Straub, both of Dubuque, and Mrs. Ardo (Claire) Lunardi, Davenport; eleven grandchildren, a sister Mrs. Titus Schmid, Dubuque.

The Rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
