Louis P. "Louie" Larkin, 92, of Bethany Home, formerly of 221 St. Mary St., died at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque, of natural causes.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Raphael's Cathedral. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Due to the Easter Sunday holiday, friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St.

Mr. Larkin formerly worked at John Deere Dubuque Works for 26 years until his retirement.

He was born on July 1, 1913, in Asbury, Iowa, son of Thomas and Mina (Lewis) Larkin. He married Florence M. (Ortscied) Adams on July 31, 1973, at St. Mary's Catholic Church; she preceded him in death on Nov. 1, 2003.

He was a member of St. Raphael's Cathedral, the Eagles Club, the John Deere Retirees and the former Elks Club in Galena, Ill.

Louie enjoyed dancing, playing cards, bowling and traveling. His greatest joy was being with his family and friends.

Surviving are a niece, Jeanette (Thomas) Richard; five nephews, Donald (Geri) Leslein, Richard (Gertrude) Leslein, Edward (Linda) Larkin, James Larkin and Thomas Hook; three stepdaughters, Carol R. (John) Marcus, of Zwingle, Iowa, Gail J. Adams, of Burlington, Iowa, and Nancy J. Sweeney, of Humble, Texas; a stepson, Calvin R. (Gerry) Adams, of Escondido, Calif.; and 10 stepgrandchildren and 18 stepgreat-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Genevieve Leslein and Dorothy Haas; and two brothers, John Larkin and Edward Larkin.

Memorials may be sent to Bethany Home, 1005 Lincoln Ave., Dubuque, Iowa 52001.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Liabo and his nurse, Trish, and the nurses and staff of Bethany Home for their excellent care of Louie.
