Stanley Meyer Dies at 69, Deputy Sheriff, Court Bailiff Many Years

Stanley N. Meyer, 69, 411-1/2 W. Locust St., Dubuque County deputy sheriff for nine years and bailiff of the District Court, died at 1:15 p.m. Sunday at Finley Hospital after an extended illness. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Monday at the Hoffman Mt 9 a.m. Wednesday to St. Patrick's Church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Mr. Meyer was born Sept. 10, 1883, at Dubuque, son of Philip and Mae Hines Meyer. He resided here all his life. A veteran of World War I, he was a charter member and a past commander of the Dubuque Post American Legion and a charter member of the Legion's 40 and 8. He was a member of St. Patrick's Parish and its Holy Name Society.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Coe Whitby Meyer, three daughters, Mrs. K.B. (Ruth) Jackson and Mrs. J.G. (Virginia) Kelley, both of Dubuque, and Mrs. J.F. (Margaret) Quinn, Arlington, Va.; a son Philip T. Meyer, Milwaukee, Wis.; 13 grandchildren, a sister Marie Miller, Minneapolis, Minn., and a brother Arthur Meyer, Chicago, Ill. A daughter Vera Mae, his parents and a sister and brother preceded him.

Members of St. Patrick's Holy Name Society will meet at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary to recite the Rosary.
