Funeral services for Sister Mary Helen Cassidy, PEVM, are being held today (Thursday) at Mt. Loretto convent at 11 a.m. Among the con-celebrants of the Mass will be two cousins, the Rev. Donald Hutchinson, Loras, Dubuque; and the Rev. Daniel Curtin, CSC, Notre Dame, Indiana.
Sister Mary Helen, daughter of Thomas and Mary Curtin Cassidy, was born May 19, 1913, in Waukon, Iowa. She received her early education there and later attended Iowa colleges. Before her entrance into religion she taught in Allamakee schools and acted as secretary to the superintendent of schools in Allamakee county.
As a Presentation, Sister, she taught at Key West, Ryan, Elkader, Monona, Dougherty, and Iowa Falls. Her last assignment was at St. Cecelia's, Algona, where she taught until December 10, 1970. The last three months she spent in the Mt. Loretto infirmary and at Mercy Medical Center, where she died at 6:45 a.m., March 16.
Surviving members of Sister Helen's family are Mrs. Lloyd Monroe (Jeanette), Decorah, Iowa; Mrs. H.T. Flynn (Virginia), Scarsdale, N.Y.; and Mrs. Lucille Condon, Old Bridge, N.J.
Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery, Key West.
