BRIEF SERVICES HELD FOR COATES
Large Delegations Attend Impressive Rites
Brief and impressive funeral services for Frank W. Coates, owner of F. W. Coates Insurance Agency, were held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the family home, 215 Fremont Avenue.
Mr. Coates died Tuesday evening at Finley Hospital.The Rev. Everett A. Sabin, pastor of St. Luke's Methodist Church. officiated at the services. He was assisted by the Rev. Dr. D. D. Welch, President of the University of Dubuque. The Rev. Mr. Sabin and Dr. Welch also officiated at the graveside in the Rockdale Cemetery.
Ushers at the home, which was filled to capacity with friends and associates of Mr. Coates, were Russell Sherrer, Albert Wharton, H. B. Spensley, Jr., and Richard Bonson.
Attending the funeral in a body were large delegates of the Dubuque Lodge of Elks, the 3:30 Club, the Insurance Fraternity of Dubuque, the Dubuque Fire and Marine Insurance Company, the National Reserve Insurance Company, and the Longview Club.
Representatives of insurance companies from outside the city who attended the funeral and the firms they represented follow: C. D. Mackenzie, Chicago, the Twin City Fire Insurance Company; George E. Redfield, Chicago, the Farmers Fire Insurance Company; W. Williams and H. L. Wicker, Minneapolis, the Standard Accident Insurance Company; A. O. Kelley, Des Moines, the U. S. Fidelity and Guaranty Insurance Company; W. H. Faulkner, Des Moines, the U. S. Fire Insurance Company; and R. E. McGonaige, Chicago, the Westrern Sprinkler Risk Association.
Other business associates from outside the city attending the funeral included William Denigan, J. H. Marshall, R. H. Johnston, and H. O. Jeston, Des Moines; L. W. {obit ends here}
