THE MORTUARY RECORD
Dyersville Commercial-August 3, 1900

Mrs. Katharina Schindler, wife of George Schindler, died at the family residence, a little northeast of Dyersville, last Tuesday morning at – o’clock. She had been in ill health for a number of years and was quite feeble as of late, and about a week before she was taken with extreme weakness of which she could not recover.

Mrs. Schlinder was born in Center Township, in this county on November 27, 1851, and was therefore 48 years, 8 months and 4 days old at the time of her death. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Steger and with them moved to Bremen Township a little northeast of Dyersville in 1856.

On January 23, 1870 she was unite in marriage with her surviving husband, in St. Francis Church of this place by the Rev. Father Kortenkamp, and from that time on resided on their farm where she died.

She was a through Christian lady and a devoted wife and mother, and enjoyed the esteem of a large circle friends which deplore her early demise and extend their sympathies to the bereaved family.

Besides her husband she is survived by two sons, Frank X. and Joseph, and one daughter Mary, the wife of Mr. Joseph Pfab and an adopted son and daughter, Stephan and Mathilda. She is also survived by her aged mother, her brother George Steger of Bremen Township, Joseph Steger of Worthington, Stephan Steger of Canton, Minn., and sisters, Mrs. – Jasper of Worthington and Mrs. Joseph Kipp of State Center.

The funeral will take place this Friday morning. Messrs. Henry Kortenkamp Sr., Bernard Menke, John Meyer, J. F. Link, John Drexler and Charles Kramer will be the pallbearers. St. Francis Society will escort the remains to St. Francis Church and to their last resting place beside a large concourse of sympathizing friends. After solemn requiem mass at the church the—(rest of obituary is lost.)
