Sally A. Pfab, 79, of 575½ W. Locust St., died at 2:52 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2010, at home.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 3:30 p.m.

She was born on Jan. 23, 1931, in Dubuque, daughter of Anthony H. and Dollie (Hayes) Pfab.

Sally was employed at Tony's Café and Apple River Chemical-NREN, and she also owned and operated the Fireside Inn on Main Street in Dubuque.

She was involved with the Catholic Church Extension Society in Perryton, Texas, for two years. Sally was a charter member of the Women's Recreation Association. She started junior bowling in Dubuque and was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame in 1996.

She also enjoyed competitive roller skating and playing softball on the DuPaco championship team and was the first female stock car driver at the Old Sports Bowl. Sally was a loyal Cubs and Bears fan.

Surviving are a brother, Joseph H. (Lana) Pfab, of Dubuque; her stepmother, Patricia Pfab, of Dubuque; two half sisters, Susie (Jack) Onken, of Martelle, Iowa, and Ruth (Keith) Reiff, of Preston, Iowa; two half brothers, James Pfab and William (Tammy) Pfab, both of Dubuque; a brother-in-law, Dave Clasen, of Bellevue, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Anthony E. Pfab; and two half sisters, Elizabeth (Dave) Clasen and Hilma (Geoff) Galloway.

A Sally A. Pfab Memorial Fund has been established.
