Francis Bernard McDermott Passes
Away in Placid After Long
Illness

Mr. Francis Bernard McDermott, of Placid, passed away Wednesday evening, Dec. 31, 1902. Deceased was born in Dubuque County in the year 1837, and during his life here won many friends. In the year 1866, Mr. McDermott was married to Miss Hanora Dunn, who with seven sons and three daughter survive him, viz: John McDermott, Francis, James and Michael, married, and Daniel, William and Thomas, at home, also, Mrs. C. E. Devaney, Cascade, Mrs. Joseph Urbain, Prairie Creek, and Mrs. Maurice Urbain, Placid, together with seven brothers, Mr. Austin McDermott of Dubuque, Ambrose of Clare, Iowa, James and William of Whitewater, Edward and Joseph of Prairie Creek, Mathias of Dubuque and Michael of Taylor.

The funeral was held from his home to St. John’s Church Friday morning where Rev. Brogan, assisted by Rev. Lonergan, Rev. Slattery and Rev. Roach, celebrated requiem high mass. The body was laid in St. John’s Cemetery.
