Mrs. Elizabeth Michel, wife of Jacob Michel, died this morning at 10:30 o’clock at the family residence, 159 West Fifth Street, aged 73 years, 4 months and three days. The deceased was born in Hageman, Mecklenburg, Germany, in 1829, and became a resident of Dubuque in June, 1851, and on September 20th of the same year she was united in marriage to Jacob Michel, who, with seven children, is left to mourn her loss. The surviving children are Henry and Ben of this city, F. W. of San Diego County, California, Philip of Joplin, Missouri, Mrs. Katherine Kiene and Mrs. Jno. M. Young both of Chicago and Miss Jennie residing at home.

Mrs. Michel was a lifelong member of the Universalist Church. During her residence of over half a century in this city she gained the love of all who knew her and the news of her death will cause profound sorrow in many homes throughout the community. The deceased was probably better known among the later generations. For a number of years she had been subject to the ailments incident to her advanced age. Several days ago members of the family became aware of the fact that their loved one was growing weaker but nevertheless they entertained hopes of her ultimate recovery.

The funeral will be held Monday at 2 o’clock from the residence on West Fifth Street where the deceased resided for thirty-four years to Linwood Cemetery. Services will be held at the house. Interment private.
