PETER MARUGG DEAD
~
The Well Known Carpenter Passes
Away at an Early Hour This Morning
~
Peter Marugg, an aged and highly respected citizen of this city, died at the family residence at Thirteenth and Iowa Street at 6:30 o’clock this morning at the age of 70 years. The deceased was born in Paris, France and came to this country fifty years ago, making this city his home ever since. He was a carpenter by trade and for many years followed the occupation here, when his health failed him. For several years Mr. Marugg had been a helpless invalid, and was a great burden to his family, but he bore up under his afflictions patiently and his wife and children cared for him in the most devoted manner. The deceased was a man of spotless character and had many warm friends amongst our older residents who knew him and admired him. Besides his wife six children survive him, one son who resided in St. Louis, four daughters in this city and another, Mrs. G. W. Bill, who lives at Missouri Valley, Iowa.
Funeral notice will appear later.
