Andrew Ellwanger Passes Away
Last Night at His Home On
Clay Street

Andrew Ellwanger, a member of the well-known firm of Ellwanger Bros., dealer in harness, 1256 Clay Street, died at 6:40 last night at his home at the same number. Mr. Ellwanger had been in rather poor health for over a year, but his last severe illness dated back only a few weeks. The deceased was born in Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany Nov. 28, 1843, and came to Dubuque in 1852. In 1869, he with his brother engaged in the harness business at their present stand, and have since that time conducted a successful business. The deceased had an extended acquaintance and was favorably known everywhere.

He is survived by his wife and six children, Herman, Edward, Ferdinand, Charles, Frederick and Amanda, all of this city. Three brothers, Herman, Otto and John, and two sisters, Mrs. G. H. Hess of Omaha and Mrs. H. W. Scott of this city survive him.

The deceased was a member in four secret societies, Dubuque Camp Modern Woodsman, Germania Lodge A. O. U. W., Key City Lodge, I. O. O. F. and Columbia Camp Woodsman of the World.
