Dr. Ethan Mengers, 60, professor of the Old Testament at Wartburg Seminary, of 61 Hill St., died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at his home. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Egelhof Funeral Home.

He was born at Philadelphia, Pa., son of Rev. C. C. and Dorothea Hendriksen Mengers and came to Dubuque in the fall of 1956. Before coming to Dubuque he taught at the Trinity Theological Seminary at Blair, Nebr.

Surviving are his wife, three sons, Paul E. Mengers of Seattle, Wash., Gerhardt Mengers of Wadsworth, Ohio, U. S. Air Force Parks, Calif, one daughter, Mrs. Philip (Carol) Johnson, Clarendon Hills, Ill; one sister, Mrs. Elsie Hansen of Blair, Nebr., and nine grandchildren.
